What a pair (?) on the Etive

March 25th 2017

Terry and I escaped once more and ran the Spean gorge on the Friday afternoon followed by a meal/drinks in the Clachaig Inn by way of recovery.  The Orchy was still very low so Saturday was on the River Etive.  Strange that Scotland is so dry just now even though there's some snow still on the hills.  We started with having the river to ourselves in the beautiful clear air and great scenery.  If there is ever time I will get up Buachaille Etive Mor.

As usual we got straight on with it, doing Triple Falls a couple of times as a warm-up.  The landing after Letterbox was ok but there's not much margin for error, Skijump provided a bit of a skyrocket tailie, and as usual Crack of Doom put a big grin on our faces.

We portaged the other crack on the grounds that its too shallow to land on the liquid stuff and headed on down to the crux, "Right Angle" falls.  Terry did a spin in the elbow (right angle) bit before getting the actual drop with style.  I composed myself in the eddy for a few seconds and was the pretty much spot on down the fall.

Laughs all round, down the rock garden etc, and its always the last drop (Twist & Shout) that can punish the casual - don't underestimate the last drop!

Terry survived in the Glen
